COMMUNITY MUSIC CENTER
San Francisco Community Music Center (CMC) is a nonprofit music school and performance space that provides opportunities for people of all ages, musical interests and financial means to study music. This 95-year-old institution offers sliding-scale tuition and many discounts and free programs so that music is accessible to everyone who would like to explore it. CMC has two branches in San Francisco: one in the Mission District and one in the Richmond. Classes are taught in many genres, including Latin, jazz, blues, bluegrass, and gospel, in addition to western classical. Private lessons on over 30 instruments are available, as well as ensemble classes and group classes in subjects such as theory, musicianship, composition, and songwriting. CMC also offers an Adult Certificate Program for students interested in guidance and an integrated program to help them reach their musical goals.
